Senior Solar PV & Battery Systems Technician
- Install, commission, troubleshoot and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage, inverter and backup power systems for residential, commercial and project sites.
- Carry out AC and DC electrical installation work, including solar module mounting, cabling, earthing, protective devices, inverters, batteries, switchgear and automatic transfer/backup arrangements.
- Take responsibility for complete end-to-end solar and battery installations, assessing each site and adapting the installation approach, equipment placement, mounting method, cable routing and electrical connection arrangements to suit customer requirements and actual site conditions while maintaining safety, compliance and system performance. Perform system testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer requirements and applicable safety standards.
- Read and work from electrical drawings and single-line diagrams, verify installation quality, ensure correct labelling and safe work practices, and guide other installers when required.
The position is based in Port Vila, Vanuatu, with travel throughout the islands of Vanuatu as required for installations and project work.
Qualification:
- Technical or vocational diploma/certificate, trade qualification, or equivalent recognized training in Electrical Installation, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Solar PV, or a closely related field.
- Relevant practical experience in solar PV, battery storage and electrical installation may be considered where supported by proven technical competence.
- At least 4 years related experience
