REWINDER OPERATOR
The Rewinder Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of high-speed rewinding machines that convert large parent jumbo reels from the paper machine into finished customer-ready rolls (logs) of toilet tissue, kitchen towels, or facial tissue. The operator ensures the rewinder produces rolls that meet precise specifications for diameter, length, embossing, perforation, and core adhesion, while maximizing output and minimizing waste. This role is critical as it is the last major production process before final packaging.
ey Responsibilities:
1. Machine Operation & Setup:
- Safely and efficiently operate high-speed, automated rewinding machines (e.g., Fabio Perini, Gambini, A.Celli, Toschi).
- Perform complete machine set-up, including loading parent reels, threading the web through the machine path, installing embossing rolls, perforation blades, and core chucks according to the production schedule.
- Input and adjust machine parameters (e.g., tension control, rewind diameter, embossing pressure, perforation depth) via the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) to meet product specifications.
- Monitor the automatic splicing system to ensure uninterrupted production during reel changes.
2. Quality Control & Inspection:
- Conduct frequent quality checks on produced logs for critical attributes:
-
- Correct diameter and roll firmness.
- Accurate and clean perforation.
- Sharp, clear embossing pattern.
- Proper glue application for core adhesion and tail seal.
- Absence of defects: wrinkles, tears, splices in the final log, or crushed cores.
- Make immediate machine adjustments to correct any quality deviations.
- Complete all required quality control documentation for each production order.
- 3. Production Efficiency & Output:
- Achieve daily production targets for meters/logs produced, focusing on machine efficiency and speed.
- Minimize waste (trim, rejected logs, core waste) through precise setup and stable operation.
- Accurately log production data, including quantities produced, machine downtime reasons, and material usage.
- Coordinate with the downstream log saw operator or packaging line to ensure smooth material flow.
- 4. Routine Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks: cleaning, lubrication, blade changes, and minor adjustments.
- Quickly identify and troubleshoot common operational issues (e.g., web breaks, misaligned embossing, poor perforation).
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians for more complex repairs and assist during maintenance activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A technical/vocational certificate in mechanics, electromechanics, or production technology is advantageous.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a Rewinder Operator or Assistant Operator in a tissue converting, paper, printing, or packaging environment.
- Direct experience with high-speed tissue rewinding machines is a significant advantage.
