QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical or vocational training in Painting, Wood Finishing, or related field.
- Knowledge of different types of wood coatings, finishing materials, and application techniques.
- Skilled in surface preparation, spray finishing, and polishing techniques.
- Knowledge of lacquer, PU, polyester, and water-based finishes.
- Excellent eye for color, texture, and surface detail.
- Experience in both manual and spray finishing is an advantage.
YEARS OF EXPERTISE/SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in painting and polishing, preferably in a carpentry, joinery, or interior fit-out manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a production team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Understanding of health and safety standards in handling paints and chemicals.

?JOB DESCRIPTION:
Surface Preparation and Finishing
- Prepare wooden and veneer surfaces by sanding, filling, and cleaning prior to painting or polishing.
- Mix, match, and apply stains, paints, sealers, lacquers, and varnishes to achieve the required color and finish (e.g., matte, gloss, semi-gloss).
- Carry out spray-painting, brushing, or hand-polishing depending on the material and finish requirement.
- Conduct multiple finishing stages such as base coat, topcoat, and final polishing to achieve smooth, even, and high-quality results.
- Perform touch-up, repair, and re-finishing work as required on site or in the workshop.
2. Quality Control
- Inspect finished items to ensure the correct color tone, texture, and finish uniformity as per sample or design specification.
- Identify surface defects (scratches, dents, bubbles, etc.) and carry out corrective actions.
- Maintain records of finishing schedules, color codes, and material usage.
3. Collaboration and Workflow
- Coordinate with carpenters, joiners, and upholsterers to ensure proper sequencing of production and finishing work.
- Follow instructions from the Foreman-Paint Polish regarding project priorities, finishes, and delivery timelines.
- Communicate any material or technical issues that may affect quality or production deadlines.
4. Tools, Equipment, and Safety
- Operate and maintain spray guns, polishing machines, sanding tools, and related finishing equipment.
- Ensure all materials (paint, thinners, stains, etc.) are handled and stored safely according to safety data sheets (SDS).
Maintain a clean and organized finishing area, following company health, safety, and environmental regulations.
