Job Description:
- Operate GTAW/SMAW welding equipment to join metal components in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead), 1G/2G/3G/4G/5G/6G/6GR
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to determine welding requirements.
- Set up and maintain welding machines, including selecting appropriate electrodes and adjusting welding parameters.
- Prepare surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, or cutting metal as needed.
- Ensure welds meet quality standards by inspecting and testing welds for strength, appearance, and compliance.
- Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment, including wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adhering to all safety regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Work in various environments, such as construction sites, fabrication shops, and manufacturing plants.
- Collaborate with other team members, including fitters and supervisors, to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality results.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and any materials used.
Qualifications:
- Certification in GTAW/SMAW welding is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Familiarity with welding inspection techniques and quality control standards.
- Ensure welds meet quality standards by inspecting and testing welds for strength, appearance, and compliance.
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices.
