Guidance Counselor
Position Overview
The role of the Guidance Counselor plays a critical part in supporting students' academic, personal,
and social development. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in implementing and evaluating
comprehensive counseling programs, conducting individual and group guidance sessions, and
working closely with parents, teachers, and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement academic, vocational, and personal counseling programs (individual and group)
- Collaborate with the Vice Principal – Guidance on the planning, execution, and evaluationof guidance programs
- Conduct group guidance activities for students and staff to promote personal growth and well-being
- Serve as a liaison among homeroom advisers, faculty, parents, and administration to address student development needs
- Assist in organizing seminars and training sessions for students, parents, and school staff
- Facilitate and participate in parent-teacher conferences
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive reports on student evaluations, counseling sessions,and referrals
- Support the psychometrician in interpreting test results for relevant stakeholders
- Refer students with special needs to appropriate professionals or support services
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counseling or related field
- Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling
- Registered Guidance Counselor (RGC)
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a school or academic setting
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficient in counseling techniques, student assessment tools, and record-keeping systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in international or private schools
- Familiarity with current counseling methodologies and digital tools for student support
- Training or certification in mental health first aid, child protection, or crisis intervention
- Strong advocacy for student mental health and wellness initiatives
