Basic Function:
- To ensure optimum utilization of yard spaces. Properly segregate containers according to the set boundaries per vessel/trade service.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintaining well-segregated stacks for IMDG [DG class, UN # based on IMO regulations and aligned with our HSSS and port Safety compliance. added were special containers [reefers, Out-of-Gauge OOG, BBK, and OT require lifting gears.
- Performs visual inspection of stacks and orders housekeeping as and when required to ensure maximum utilization of yard spaces.
- Segregate containers bound for Railway movement (MEDLOG, EES, BL Seg & Depot).
- Ensuring that created stacks can serve the number of QC ratio plans each vessel will work with. and YC range coverage to work.
- Allocate the Depot area for empty containers & provide a list with the shipping line for nomination purposes only and ensure FIFO basis and no shifting or unproductive moves at all.
- All nomination requests by SL shall be coursed via email only.
- Solves manual planning of containers in the yard.
- Defines yard nomenclature in SPACE. Designs and set up yard layout.
- Set up yard areas, markings, and angles.
- Set up yard stacking allocation considering projected container volumes and type of container handling equipment in the yard
- Collect all data related to Import, Export booking, Custom Booking, and special requirements for stacking or segregation.
- Set up stacking parameters, segregation guidelines, and boundaries for accurate segregation of containers into the yard.
- Check the berth Chart to ensure stacking is related to the berths allowing best proximity. Ref [Vessel name volume, service, recirculation containers per line operator, container type, and container size.
- Zoning the yard according to operational requirements to improve overall utilization and efficiency checks and plan containers that require manual plans.
- Organize a yard and perform housekeeping activities when required.
- Assisting controllers, and YOCs after Yard planning is done as a primary function.
- Ensure that the created Yard strategies template is carried- out by yard controllers [YOCs].
Qualifications:
- A degree in logistics, supply chain management, or maritime studies is an added advantage
- Prior experience as a yard coordinator, terminal planner, or similar role within a container terminal is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with different types of container handling equipment and procedures
- Knowledge of import/export regulations and customs clearance processes
- Proficient in English language
