Job Summary:
The HVAC Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the overall management and oversight of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in a commercial or industrial facility. They will develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, monitor system performance, and ensure the efficient and reliable operation of the HVAC infrastructure to maintain a comfortable and safe environment for occupants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of HVAC technicians and coordinate their work to ensure all scheduled inspections, maintenance, and repairs are completed in a timely and effective manner.
- Monitor the performance and energy usage of HVAC systems, and make adjustments to optimize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Troubleshoot complex HVAC system issues, identify the root cause, and implement appropriate corrective actions or system upgrades.
- Coordinate with building management, facility engineers, and outside contractors to ensure the seamless integration and operation of HVAC systems with other building systems.
- Maintain detailed records of all HVAC maintenance activities, equipment history, and system performance data.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards related to HVAC systems.
- Develop and implement HVAC-related training programs to keep the maintenance team up-to-date on the latest technologies and best practices.
- Participate in budget planning and capital project management for HVAC system upgrades, replacements, or expansions.
- Analyze energy consumption data and identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements, recommending and implementing appropriate solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5-7 years of experience as an HVAC maintenance engineer.
- Comprehensive understanding of HVAC system design, operation, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications.
- Skilled in the use of HVAC testing and diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, temperature and pressure gauges, and data loggers.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
