Job Summary:
The HVAC Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. They will work under the guidance of senior technicians to ensure the proper operation and efficiency of the HVAC equipment, maintaining a comfortable and safe indoor environment for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including checking filters, lubricating moving parts, and cleaning components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues, identify the root cause, and implement corrective actions to restore proper operation.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning HVAC components, such as motors, fans, and control systems, using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Maintain detailed records of all HVAC maintenance activities, including work orders, repair reports, and equipment history.
- Assist senior HVAC technicians with larger-scale projects, such as system upgrades, replacements, or major overhauls.
- Monitor HVAC system performance and energy usage, and report any concerns or efficiency improvement opportunities to the supervisor.
- Comply with all applicable building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards related to HVAC systems.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up-to-date on the latest HVAC technologies and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical diploma or associate's degree in HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as an HVAC technician or in a related field.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC system components, operation, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
- Proficient in using a variety of HVAC tools and equipment, including multimeters, gauges, and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
