Pipefitters
- Reads and understands isometric drawings, specifications and material lists to safely install process piping and utility systems;
- Plans installation to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of the other workers;
- Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings (valves, couplings, and other fittings) safely and effectively;
- Attached pipes to walls, structures, or fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
- Assembled or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints.
- Layout full-scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints.
- Turned valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches.
- Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders.
- Measured and mark pipes for cutting or threading.
- Fitted pipe for welders to weld and made sure they passed site specifications.
- Selected pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
- Safely and effectively test piping system for leaks using pneumatic and hydraulic testing methods;
- Rigging and directing lifting equipment to safely install piping components.
Ex-Bechtel preferred. Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience required. Must have good skills in speaking, writing, and reading English.
